Well, Stormageddon is pretty much perfect. Thank you everyone for all your support and kind notes. You’re wonderful!
I love it when you call me Big Poppa.
Daniel snuggles with our new son.
Our baby boy is here.
Might I suggest a name appropriate for the occasion? I can’t think of any good ones off the top of my head, but that’s not my job. I’m an idea man, not a baby name on demand man.
Stormaggedon.
Contractions hurt.
A lot.
90% effaced and a stretchy 4 cm.
And now I will lie down and rest between contractions. If my bed weren’t covered in plastic sheeting a la Dexter’s kill room, I might actually be able to sleep.
39 weeks 6 days - All pretty for my pedicure
Early labor is starting, and there is lots left to do. This is me breathing through a contraction. Birth may still be a day or two away, but the arrival of Babybite will be sooner rather than later!
Due date is tomorrow so I thought I would cash in on one of my last free weekly pedicures. Daniel does such a nice job on my toes and having my feet rubbed was heavenly.
Emery, this reminds me of you.
I have a small collection of broken and/or otherwise unusable teapots to use for exactly something like this.
Used my new coffee press for the first time today. I made an excellent cup of decaffeinated coffee. I’m pretty proud of myself.

Alexander came into the world at 11:22 pm at 7 lbs and 14 oz. Pictures to come later.
BABIES EVERYWHERE YOU GUYS!
Wonderful! Congratulations!
Spicy Indian food, work your magic.
Tonight we are on a date. You know, since we are having a baby soon and all, we’re trying to cram in a bunch of “couple” stuff like theater movies and restaurants. Okay, so we will probably only make it out this once, but it’s worth the effort. I think. Daniel might not be so sure.
We are not going to stand by and watch Sam Brownback and his extremist allies in the Kansas Legislature wage war on the middle class and working families, —
Terry Forsyth, president of the Working Kansas Alliance.
I promise I wont quote press releases I’m sending out often but statements like this are why I love my new job.
From our release today: The Working Kansas Alliance responds to Gov. Brownback’s State of the State - http://bit.ly/zBxsO6
This.
We, in Kansas, are fighting a war not only against extremists in our national government but also against one of the most conservative governors in the country. He is responsible for massive layoffs in state jobs and changing the rules for making it very difficult to receive unemployment benefits. Don’t even get me started on his gutting of social programs for disabled children and mentally ill Kansans.
Post as much of this sort of thing as you want, Colin. I, for one, need to hear about the folks out there who are fighting the good fight and keeping hope alive.
