Stormageddon turned four months old today. He attempts to do raspberries, which usually just turn out as spitting. He can sit up on his own for a little while. Though mostly he just winds up folded over. He can move all over the place and is even trying his hand at crawling by getting up on his knees and elbows and using his head to push himself forward, screaming the whole time. It is a sight to behold. He still smiles a lot and laughs, but he is also equally serious and contemplative.

This is my daughter, Phoebe. She is 5 years old. She suffers from Polymicrogyria (PMG), Postnatal Microcephaly, Epilepsy, Diffuse White Matter Disease, and many others.

Governor Sam Brownback ignored the voices and concerns of everyday Kansans, including yourself, by choosing to sign his massive tax plan into law today. Brownback’s massive tax plan is one of the most reckless, irresponsible and detrimental pieces of legislation that Kansas has ever seen. Legislation that non-partisan research groups have said is structured in a way that will only benefit the wealthy at the expense of low-income Kansans. Kansas cannot afford these tax cuts for the wealthy that Brownback sign into law earlier today.

Governor Brownback’s reckless tax plan will guarantee local property tax hikes across the state and will have a devastating impact on the quality of life for working families across Kansas. He has ignored you and thousands of other Kansans who urged him to veto this irresponsible tax plan. The working families of Kansas deserve more from their Governor.

So what does all this mean for you?

Less money for education means fewer teachers and overcrowded classrooms.

Property and sales taxes statewide are going to go up dramatically.

Higher taxes make it harder for families living paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet.

The impact of this reckless plan will put Kansas at risk for years to come, and does absolutely nothing to help the hard working Kansas families in our state.

This happened today. It is those fucking tax cuts signed in by Bush and extended by Obama on a very small scale. Let’s all watch what happens.

I am really sad and scared for our state and people like us, who live paycheck to paycheck. We already pay so much in transportation costs and cannot afford things like higher property taxes on our cars or house and bigger expenses on necessities like school clothes and food.

Nick Hanauer, self-described “super-rich” entrepreneur, gave a pretty compelling TED Talk about how the middle class—not the super-rich—are the real job creators. But TED, which has released over 100 different political videos in the past, thought this one was too partisan and chose not to release it. We didn’t notice any flaming partisanship in it. We normally love TED, and were surprised they didn’t think this talk was TEDworthy.

Under pressure from the Internets, TED finally relented and released the video. Watch it and decide for yourself if it’s really all that controversial to say that the “super-rich are not job creators.” Then share it like crazy.
